Are you looking for a wonderful way to give back to your community? Consider volunteering for the Child Development Centre (CDC). Volunteering for the CDC can provide a very satisfying experience, allowing you to use your skills and to build new skills while helping the region’s children and their families. For individuals that are interested in pursuing careers in early intervention (preschool) or school-aged therapy, or in early childhood education, volunteering at the CDC can provide you with increased information regarding your intended vocation.We have many potential opportunities for volunteers, such as the following:
Special Events Volunteers: We are looking for assistance in running our special events, such as our annual Gift Wrap at Pine Centre Mall in December and for our Kris Kringle Luncheon. Please call if you are interested in helping out.
Preschool/Daycare: colouring teaching material, preparing & serving hot lunchs, preparing art material, and working directly with children in areas such as reading and telling stories, and teaching art or music.
Therapy: Cleaning toys and equipment, preparing therapy materials.
Administration: Greeting and assisting families, answering phones, general computer work.
Business Writer: We are looking for an individual with excellent writing skills to assist with redrafting pages on this web site, to edit our policy and procedure manual, and to assist in the drafting of Centre brochures.
Woodworker/Metalworker: Are you handy with creating new things? We need a volunteer to build and repair equipment to help support children with special needs.
Volunteer Coordinator: We are looking for a volunteer with skills in leadership to help develop, support and promote our volunteer program.
Other Areas: The volunteer activities listed above are just a few of the many different areas in which you can support the Centre with your valuable time. Do you have skills in other areas such as IT, HR, policy development, etc.? We welcome volunteers with many differing types of expertise. If you are interested in volunteering in an area that you believe would be of use to us, please give us a call.
